I think the wiki project is wonderful and will be a great resource. I do believe that posting it is important for colleagues to know that it exists as well as to serve as a reminder. While it is a resource for those in and outside ARLIS, I still think it is important to highlight it for ARLIS members as well. I think that a link posted to the WomArt website only serves to make the wiki more accessible to everyone who may be interested. The more opportunities to come across resources for use and contribution, the better.

Hi Beverly,
I'm the vice moderator of the Womart group. For a few years now, we have tried unsuccessfully to complete a bibilography project on women artists. We decided to contribute this same information and more to a larger work (Wikipedia) that currently has relatively little available on women artists. We will not be posting anything on the AWS, because we are doing this for members in and outside of the ARLIS community. We will be pitching a poster session for Denver however, and we will keep the membership up to date with emails. Sue has presented us with a great idea, and is already adding rich content to wikipedia herself (Kudos to Sue!!). You can access what she and the others are working on by clicking the Wikipedia link in her email. We look forward to your contributions!

Sue,
Do you know if there is a plan to have this wiki and others listed on
the ARLIS home page so that they are easily accessible? Could a list of
wikis be put under a drop-down menu under their different organizations?
I'd hate to see all this great information contributed by ARLIS members
buried under a series of links.
Thanks!
Beverly

At our meeting in Atlanta, we decided that we would each contribute some
of our individual research on women artists to Wikipedia. I
volunteered to look into creating a group or space within Wikipedia
where we could communicate. For now, it seems appropriate to use the
discussion page for the ARLIS article as our "meeting place." It's here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Art_Libraries_Society_of_North_America
All ARLIS members are encouraged to contribute.
I am happy to assist anyone with getting started as a Wikipedia editor.
