(2 embossed leaves on hand-made paper; 18 leaves of
engraved etchings with soft-ground textures,
aquatints, and underwater spit etchings on
Standard Rives BFK and Arches, buff paper).
Alberto Meza (305-237-2656, work; 305-387-3148, home;
305-237-2871, fax) is currently Professor of Art at Miami-
Dade Community College, Miami, Florida. He was born in
Santiago, Chile, and hold a BA from the University of Chile,
an MA from Syracuse University, and an MFA from Northern
Illinois University. He is the author and illustrator of
four books of poetry, and was the 1967 Mayfield Library
Award recipient at Syracuse University. An avid printmaker,
Mr. Meza has had nine one-person exhibitions, and has won
awards at the International Cabo Frio Print Biennal, Cabo
Frio, Brazil, and the Maximo Ramos Print Biennal, Ferrol/
Galicia, Spain. His graphic works have been exhibited at
the Art Institute of Chicoag, the Chicago Museum of Science
and Industry, and numerous commercial and university galleries.

The 1997 Florida Artists' Book Prize and a "Selected Exhibition of
Prize Entries" will be presented at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.,
February 12, 1998, in the Bienes Center for the Literary Arts.
The reception will also celebrate the opening of the companion
exhibition, "MODERN RARE BOOKS II: [42] ARTISTS' BOOKS FROM THE MATA
AND ARTHUR JAFFE COLLECTION." Some of the artists featured are:
Susan Allix, Leonard Baskin, Mare Blocker, Carol Cunningham, Roland
King, Carlos Macia, Nance O'Banion, Steven Stankiewicz, Claire Van
Vliet, and Debra Weier.
