Hello!
I have two quick cataloging questions:
First, I'm trying to figure out a call number for a book on 20th century
sculpture from Colombia. To me, it should fall somewhere between NB212 and
NB450, but when I use the table N5 for specific countries, 20th century
Colombia comes up as 175 under the 1000 numbers, which I understand to mean
that the number would be 1175. Could someone please explain my mistake?
Second question:
As a growing 2 year art and design school library, we are considering
changing around our cataloging practices to place all monographs by a single
artist in a separate call number like "I" for individual artist so that
students can find all monographs on a particular artist sitting next to each
other on the shelf despite the medium. I believe Moore College of Art has
tried this and I want to know if anyone else has and what the pros and cons
are (besides a whole lot of re-cataloging!).
Many thanks in advance for your responses,
Karen
