Hello! I have two quick cataloging questions: First, I'm trying to figure out a call number for a book on 20th century sculpture from Colombia. To me, it should fall somewhere between NB212 and NB450, but when I use the table N5 for specific countries, 20th century Colombia comes up as 175 under the 1000 numbers, which I understand to mean that the number would be 1175. Could someone please explain my mistake? Second question: As a growing 2 year art and design school library, we are considering changing around our cataloging practices to place all monographs by a single artist in a separate call number like "I" for individual artist so that students can find all monographs on a particular artist sitting next to each other on the shelf despite the medium. I believe Moore College of Art has tried this and I want to know if anyone else has and what the pros and cons are (besides a whole lot of re-cataloging!). Many thanks in advance for your responses, Karen ********************************************* Karen Rege, Information Specialist Delaware College of Art and Design 600 North Market Street Wilmington, DE 19801 (302) 622-8867 x408 (302) 622-8870 (fax) ********************************************** __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] Administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner at: [log in to unmask]
