Description
Reporting to the Head Curator, the incumbent assists in the daily
operations of the art history slide and photograph collections and helps
to implement special projects; duties include: slide processing-
involving all phases of slide processing, including preparing
copywork orders for photography, mounting slides, making backcards,
printing and affixing slide labels and data-entry; cataloging- works
closely with the Head Curator cataloging slides, including identifying
images and assigning appropriate call numbers; often involves research;
circulation- guides professors and students in the use of collection and
assists them in borrowing slides and audio-visual equipment; performs
other similar duties as above in photography collection, but bulk of
work is with the slide collection; maintains files and prepares monthly
semester statistics; replenishes blank forms (copying and cutting) when
necessary; performs other duties assigned; and trains and oversees
workstudy students and graduate fellowship assistants in VRC operations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Two years work experience required,
at least one year experience in slide or photo collections or comparable
experience in library, museum or academic setting. Some college
preferred. Computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Word,
Access and Excel or equivalent is preferred. Knowledge of art history is
preferred. Reading in French, German and or Italian preferred. Must be
responsible, reliable and able to work independently. Must be extremely
well organized through and careful. Meticulous attention to details
essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
