Music Library Association 69th Annual Meeting

The Music Library Association (MLA) will hold its 69th Annual Meeting at the
Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, February 23-26, 2000. =
 The
meeting will open with a plenary session entitled Regional Music and =
Musicians,
featuring three speakers=3B University of Kentucky professor Dr. Ron Pen, =
and
faculty from the University of Louisville, Dr. Paul Brink and Dr. Jack =
Ashworth.
Other plenary sessions will focus on copyright in the digital age and music
reference sources.  A workshop on mentoring within the music librarianship =
field
will precede the meeting on Wednesday, February 23.  Those interested in
understanding more about MLA's funding will want to attend the Ask MLA =
session
=22Funding MLA - An Open Forum on the MLA Budget, Fund Development, and Use,=
 and
MLA's Financial Future, as Related to the Plan 2001.=22

The MLA Local Arrangements Committee, host of the 69th Annual Meeting, is
planning a special trip to Bloomington, Indiana where attendees can visit
several of the libraries on the Indiana University campus.  Tour options =
include
the William =26 Gayle Cook Music Library, The Lilly Library, the Archives of
Traditional Music, and the library of the Kinsey Institute.  Additional =
tours
include Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, Kentucky, a walking tour of =
downtown
Louisville, and an organ crawl by bus to several local churches.

The annual meeting will also include a cocktail reception hosted by Grove's
Dictionaries, Inc. at The Spire Restaurant on top of the Hyatt Regency.
Pre-banquet entertainment will be provided by the University of Louisville =
Early
Music Ensemble with post-banquet entertainment consisting of English country
dance music and lessons.
