----------------------------Original message---------------------------- National Gallery of Art Library Vacancy Announcement Library Technician (Student Assistant/Vertical Files/Non-print media) The National Gallery of Art Library is seeking applicants for a student assistant position in the Vertical Files/Non-print media collection of the Reader Services Section.The primary purpose of the position is to assist with the processing and filing of vertical file and non-print materials, and with provision of reader access to these collections. Duties include processing (labeling) and filing items in the vertical files and non-print media collections; photocopying clippings; creating online bibliographic records for vertical files materials; assisting readers with the vertical files and non-print media collections; and assisting with the operation and maintenance of equipment used with non-print media. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of library collections and a general understanding of Library of Congress subject headings; an ability to type and file accurately; familiarity with the operation of personal computers, and an ability to work cooperatively with other staff members and readers. In order to qualify for this position, applicants must be registered at least as a half-time student, and be able to provide certification of student status, including a current class schedule. Students may work full-time or part-time schedules. There are no limitations on the number of hours a student can work per week, but the student's work schedule should not interfere with the student's academic schedule. The incumbent earns sick and annual leave based on the amount of hours worked.
