SENIOR LIBRARIAN
ADULT SERVICES DIVISION
The Wichita Public Library has an immediate opening for a Senior Librarian
in the Art, Music and Video Section of the Adult Services Division.
Responsibilities include: planning and directing the work of the Art,
Music and Video Section including employee selection, scheduling and
evaluation; assigning and monitoring section budgets; supervision and
provision of reference services within designated subject areas;
collection development for assigned subjects, including selection of
non-print materials; coordination of system-wide displays, exhibits and
adult programming; and service as a Librarian-in-Charge on designated
evenings and Sundays. Participation in system projects and teams is
expected. This position reports to the Coordinator of Adult Services.
Requires: MLS from an ALA accredited institution plus three years of
library experience; thorough knowledge of library principles, practices
and methods; the ability to effectively plan, organize and supervise the
work of others; the ability to develop and maintain effective working
relationships with associates, representatives of outside agencies and the
public; and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and
in writing and/or by whatever creative means are necessary to cross
communication barriers. Experience with Dynix and the Internet is
preferred.
Salary range: $34,276 - $47,986. Offers of employment may be made
contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screening and will be made
contingent upon satisfactory evaluation of a police records check. Send
