Position:  Reference/Instruction Librarian
Location:  Architecture and Fine Arts (AFA) Library, University of Southern
California, Los Angeles

Areas of responsibility:
Reporting to the Head of the Architecture and Fine Arts Library, the
Reference & Instruction Librarian designs and implements reference and
instructional services, including in-depth consulting with graduate
students and faculty, course integrated lectures and bibliographic
instruction in the use of print and electronic resources, and assists users
in the retrieval and evaluation of information in all formats.  Promotes
access to all of the University Libraries collections, and fosters the
exploration of the world of information beyond USC. Participates in
collection development and management for the AFA library.

Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants should describe their experience and qualifications from the
following:
academic study in the fields of art, art history, or architecture;
demonstrated knowledge of art and architecture resources in print and
electronic formats;
strong commitment to academic library public service and enthusiasm for
work with students and faculty;
demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment;
strong interest in providing high quality reference services in a
specialized environment;
strong interest in instruction;
ability to interact with faculty, staff and students from diverse cultural
backgrounds;
knowledge of current information retrieval technologies and  willingness to
explore new directions in information retrieval;
proficient oral and written communication skills;
potential to excel in a dynamic and challenging academic library environment;
Masters degree from an ALA accredited program.

This position is a full time, continuing appointment faculty position.
