Position: Visual Resource Librarian
Department of Architecture, JUDSON COLLEGE

Judson College seeks candidates for the position of Visual Resource
Librarian to the Department of Architecture.  The Visual Resource Librarian
is responsible for all operations of the Architecture Visual Resource
Collections (AVRC).  The AVRC is less than 2 years old and holds, maintains
and circulates slides, videos, building product information and department
audiovisual equipment.

The Department of Architecture at Judson College was launched in 1997
offering a 5-year professional degree program of study (B.A. (Architecture
Studies) plus M.Arch) and is the third school of architecture in Chicago.
Located 40 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop in Elgin, Illinois, Judson
College is a Christian college of the liberal arts and professions,
committed to an evangelical expression of the Christian faith, seeking
candidates to work in such a setting.

DESCRIPTION: Appointed as Administrative Faculty and reporting to the chair
of the Department of Architecture, the incumbent is responsible for:
- collection development of all holdings, liaising with department
instructors to identify selections for acquisition;
- circulation services for all holdings;
- image reference services;
- development and maintenance of an existing catalog (a customized
relational FileMaker Pro database);
- copy photography services;
- hiring, training and supervision of student assistants;
- budget management.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Art/Art History/Architecture or equivalent is
required.  MLS or MA in Art/Architecture History is preferred.  Two years
experience in visual resource libraries is required.  Candidates should
demonstrate excellent organizational and management skills, intermediate to
advanced computer skills (particularly in database and imaging
technologies), a strong knowledge of architecture history, excellent
communication skills and an attention to detail.
