Welcome to the RIBA Library Catalogue Online

The Royal Institute of British Architects is proud to announce that the
catalogue of the RIBA British Architectural Library is now available online
via the RIBA web site (http://www.riba.net) and the Library minisite (
http://site.yahoo.net/riba-library  ).

At present the online catalogue represents only a proportion of the total
number of catalogue records in the RIBA's British Architectural Library.
There are however currently over 215,000 records of material catalogued and
indexed since the early 1980s on the database.  This indispensable source of
information on all aspects of architecture and the built environment is
updated daily. Approximately 15,000 records are added to the database each
year.  As the online catalogue doesn't include records for everything we
hold, please contact the Library direct if you can't find what you want.

What does the online catalogue consist of?

-an index to the world=92s most respected architectural periodicals held in
the RIBA Library

-a catalogue of the books and audio visual materials acquired by the RIBA
Library, including details of books available for loan to RIBA members

-a catalogue of the RIBA Library Photographs Collection, including listings
of slides available for hire

-a catalogue of drawings and other materials acquired by the RIBA Library
Drawings Collection since 1986. with brief entries now being added for
aqcuisitions added earlier

-a catalogue of the RIBA Library Manuscripts Collection

-a biographical database of architects

A photocopy service for most of the books and periodical articles is
available. Photographic copies can also be made of these as well as of any
drawing, manuscript or photograph, which because of their fragility, may not
be photocopied. These services are subject to the laws of copyright.
