DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Curator of the Visual Resource Collection,
the incumbent provides
technical support for the Visual Resources Collection; develops database
for the VRC; a searchable,
relational database consisting of textual records for each image and a
graphical component for selected
images, to be determined in accordance with faculty needs; develops
electronic structure of authority files
for reference and cataloging purposes; creates electronic inventories
for collection; provides collection
documentation, reports and statistics periodically as required; provides
technical support to departmental
faculty and staff in the area of computer hardware and software; trains
staff and student workers in use
and maintenance of databases; performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of
Art/Bachelor of Science degree in Art History, Computer Science or
related field required. MA in Art
History or MS in Computer Science preferred. Two years experience in
database development
preferred; experience in CGI and C programming language preferred.
Experience with FileMaker Pro
preferred. Experience in visual resource collection, library, or museum
preferred. Instruction, written and
oral communication skills. Attention to detail.
