DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Curator of Visual Resource Collection, the incumbent provides technical support in the area of web site development for departmental faculty; designs, develops and maintains web sites for the Dept. of Art History and Archaeology, including the VRC and departmental faculty, these web sites will be developed in close cooperation with departmental staff, faculty, Media Center staff, and the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning; converts and prepares textual and graphic material for delivery over the web; conducts proper storage and archiving procedures for electronic images; monitors security and ensures technical integrity and reliability of web sites and data; keeps abreast of and incorporates current technologies into projects; trains staff in use and maintenance of web sites; advises, trains and directs student workers in use and maintenance of web sites and archives; performs related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Art/Bachelor of Science degree in Art History, Computer Science or related field required. MA in Art History or MS in Computer Science preferred. Two years experience in website development preferred. Experience with Photoshop, GoLive, Dreamweaver, and other web development software preferred. experience with scanning and archiving software preferred; experience in visual resource collection, library, or museum preferred.
