----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The policy of the CCA Library is to maintain the bibliographical integrity of the book in question by retaining the slipcase (we also retain bands and dust jackets). However, we remove the slipcase from the book for the obvious preservation reasons: the slipcases are usually constructed of harmful materials; books can be damaged when slipped in and out of slipcases. The slipcase is given the same call no. or accession no. as the book, plus a special location mark ("SC"), and is shelved in a separate location designated for the purpose. The number is applied to the inside of the slipcase, in pencil. Rosemary.
