----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Title: Art Librarian, Librarian I PRO 197 Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Director for Public Services, the successful candidate is responsible for development and administration of the art collection and public services to its users. Manages art collections and coordinates services with the Music Librarian in the Fine Arts Library. Publicizes and promotes use of the art collections both print and electronic, to the University and community; provides specialized reference to Fine Arts Library patrons; provides support for general and specialized instruction to library patrons; participates in the development of exhibits and displays for the Libraries; also provides scheduled reference service at the Main Library Reference Desk including weekend and evening hours; participates in professional and research activities and serves on Library and University committees as elected or assigned; other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; educational background in fine arts, especially art history; strong commitment to information access in alternative and traditional formats, and demonstrated proficiency with related electronic technologies; ability to teach in a classroom and other settings; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with faculty, students and staff; ability to work as part of a team; preparation and commitment to conduct independent scholarship consistent with a librarian appointment. Desired: Ability to read and/or speak one or more Romance languages.
