----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Hi, everyone. Here's a chance to share some knowledge! After much discussion, I've been asked to assist our collection development coordinator in the purchasing of "selective" works on contemporary and early 20th century artists to increase and improve our holdings here at FAU. [We do have some works on the more famous (Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, etc.), but not much.] We will be focusing on books about artists and possibly exhibition catalogs on these artists, but not group exhibition shows. Obviously I'm going to ask the art faculty for assistance, but I thought many of you would be able to contribute some information from a research perspective. What I'd like to know from some of you is: Who (in your opinion) are some of the most important 20th century artists we should look at? In your current experience, who are some of the artists that your researchers are looking at more closely right now? Related to this, what media or research trends (i.e. Latin American art) seem to be the most popular right now? I'm not sure this info is something we want to bombard the whole list with, so maybe personal replies would be best -- although I thank everyone in advance, as I doubt I'll be able to email all of you personally! Thanks again. Roberto ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Roberto C. Ferrari Arts & Humanities Reference Librarian Florida Atlantic University S. E.
