----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Title: Manager of the Digital Imaging Lab at the Harvard University Art Museums and Fine Arts Library Salary Grade: 57 ($40,700 - $66,100) Requisition #2642 Date Posted: September 17, 1999 Duties and Responsibilities: Establish a digitization program specializing in visual images in a combined museum and academic library setting. Establish and maintain a technical and quality standard for file formats, b&w and color scanning, digital photography, and image processing. Hire, train, support, and supervise scanning technicians, data entry personnel. Plan and manage program budget and contracts with commercial providers. Select/test equipment, define scanning specifications. Oversee installation of equipment. Develop and implement policies, guidelines, procedures, and project plans. Promote the lab's services and new technology to Harvard staff. Work with University stakeholders to develop, implement, test and confirm specifications for administrative, technical, and descriptive metadata. Implement Library Digital Initiative (LDI) funded project. Prepare reports and contribute to grant proposals. May serve on Harvard committees, task forces, and working groups; may represent Harvard at regional, national, and international meetings. Required Education, Experience, Skills: BA preferred; 3+ years relevant program management experience related to digital technologies, standards, issues, trends and Internet delivery technologies; ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies; operational and budget planning, management skills; ability to define priorities and follow through; creative and effective problem solving skills; excellent written and verbal communications skills.
