Art Reference Librarian Position-Temporary Appointment

Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Library, a branch of
the Smithsonian Institution Libraries, is seeking a
librarian to provide reference service to curators and
staff, students enrolled in the museum's history of
decorative arts masters program, and the general public.
The library is located in the historic Carnegie Mansion on
5th Avenue's "Museum Mile" and consists of 60,000 volumes  -
with a concentration in decorative arts and architecture.
The position is full time (40 hours per week) Monday through
Friday and is temporary (6 month appointment) at a federal
GS9 level (salary $34,486 - negotiable depending on
experience). Appointment will begin October 1, 1999.

Minimum requirements: MLS with background in art (preferably
in the areas of architecture and the decorative arts) and a
reading knowledge of French or German.
