PART-TIME CATALOGER
THE SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO


The John M. Flaxman Library of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago =
(SAIC)
seeks a Part-time Cataloger (20 hours per week) to perform the following =
duties:

=2A Cataloging, classifying, and supervising the processing of library =
materials
as assigned (books, serials, videos, films, CD-ROMS...).

=2A Insuring that all cataloging meets current national standards and =
conforms to
local policies.

=2A Contributing to cooperative cataloging and bibliographic control =
programs in
OCLC and ILLINET Online.

=2A Working with Technical Services staff to establish goals, priorities, =
policies
and procedures.

=2A Reports to the Head of Technical Services.


REQUIREMENTS:

=2A MLS degree from ALA-accredited institution (completed or in process).

=2A Minimum 2 years professional or para-professional experience in online
cataloging using a major bibliographic utility.

=2A Demonstrated ability to interact well with staff in the process of =
planning
and change.

=2A Knowledge of LC classification, LCSH, MARC, AACR2.


PREFERED:

=2A Experience using DRA.

=2A Experience with Windows95 and/or WindowsNT.

=2A Background in art, art history.

=2A Knowledge of material preservation techniques.
