We have a set of "Benezit" which is in French, but would seem to list the artist in question. A Robert wood born in 1926 & deceased 1979 painted scenes of the West & Arizona. His works have been sold in Los Angeles & NYC for anywhere from $1,955 to $9,000. If this is the same artist, you will also find in the "Art in America Annual Guide to Museums, Galleries, Artists" (issued with the periodical) that 2 galleries in Texas represent his work (Jackson Gallery in Dallas, Bernard's Mill Art Museum in Glen Rose). "Who's Who in American Art" lists a Robert Wood landscape artist who wasa born in Texas in 18898 (vs. 1926 above) but also died in 1979. HMMM. There was also a Robert W. Wood born in Baltimore who was active in 1917 per WWAA.The Smithsonian Inventory of American Painters lists only a Robert Wood (1889-1979). Other Dallas galleries that have represented a Robert Wood: Southwest Gallery, WE Johnson Fine Art (per Southwest Art magazine). Good luck! Sincerely, Rebecca D.
