Curator, Fine Arts Visual Resources Collection (UCP VI)
Department of Art and Art History

The Department of Art and Art History is accepting applications for a
full-time Visual Resources Curator.  Reporting directly to the
Department Head, the Curator manages the Visual Resources Collection
of the Department of Art and Art History at the University of
Connecticut, Storrs with its teaching staff of 21 full-time and
approximately 15 part-time faculty members.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning and
coordinating the acquisition, cataloging, access, preservation, and
automation of the collection of 120,000 slides and a growing
collection of electronic visual materials; initiating new projects
for the development of the use of and access to automated visual
instructional and research resources; monitoring compliance with
current copyright law and related emerging publishing technologies;
supervising student staff and offering direct assistance to faculty
and to the public.

Qualifications: M.A. in Art History or related field with a knowledge
of image digitization and computer databases; demonstrated experience
in visual resource collections including familiarity with
photographic techniques, quality and preservation; the ability to
apply new, digital technologies to the development of instructional,
study and research methods in the History of Art as well as other
academic disciplines; reading knowledge of at least one foreign
language; ability to present and promote the use of visual
information technology to faculty, professional peers, and students
within and outside the University; excellent organizational and
interpersonal skills.
