We have 2 filing systems in use. Artists files - used to bring together all material on one artist that is not catalogued. Museums & Galleries files - arranged by Country - city - museum these files are used to retain any materials received from a museum or gallerie that is not catalogued. Material deemed relevant to our collection or for future exhibition research is considered to be permanent collection material. I recommend you be very, very careful about weeding any file material. Some of the smaller less impressive looking material can actually turn out to be more important to curatorial research than a published book. Our file material is used by curators, visiting scholars, graduate students, and undergraduate students, and members.
