Principal subjects covered: history of decorative art, architecture and design Subtitled 'The Magazine of Modern Classic Style + Design'. The magazine's focus is the years from the 1920s to the 1960s, with an emphasis on the Modern Movement. It contains well-illustrated, relatively long articles; exhibition reviews; book reviews; details of forthcoming exhibitions and auctions; reports on auction highlights. The Winter 1998 issue includes articles on Raymond Loewy, Claire McCardell, Knoll, Piero Fornasetti, Pierre Koenig, Poul Kjaerholm and Kaare Klint. _____________________________________________________ 2. The Modernism Magazine 333 North Main Street Lambertville New Jersey 08530 USA Tel: +1 609 397 4104 Fax: +1 609 397 9377 E-mail: [log in to unmask] WWW: http://www.deco-echoes.com Quarterly ISSN: 1098 8211 1998-. Principal subjects covered: history of decorative art, architecture and design Subtitled '20th Century Art & Design'. Very similar in content and format to the above title. The emphasis is, however, on a broader period from c1900 to the 1960s. Articles are usually long article and well illustrated, and includes: exhibition reviews; book reviews; listings of forthcoming exhibitions and auctions. The Spring 1999 issue includes articles on modern Scandinavian art pottery, Modernisme architecture in Catalonia, the Wiener Werkstatte, Art Deco Havana and Jean Dunand. _____________________________________________________ 3. Style 1900 333 North Main Street Lambertville New Jersey 08530 USA Tel: +1 609 397 4104 Fax: +1 609 397 9377 E-mail: [log in to unmask] WWW: http://www.ragoarts.com Quarterly ISSN: 1080 451X 1986-. Principal subjects covered: history of decorative art, architecture and design Subtitled 'The Quarterly Journal of the Arts & Crafts Movement'. Issued by the publishers of 'The Modernism Magazine'. The coverage of the magazine is broader that its title implies, i.e. from c1880-1920, focusing on the Arts & Crafts movement, principally, but not exclusively in the USA. Articles are long and usually well illustrated. It includes exhibition reviews; book reviews; details of recent publications; and information on recent and forthcoming exhibitions. The Winter/Spring 1999 issue includes articles on Christopher Dresser, George Ohr, the conservation of Arts & Crafts furniture, pottery decoration in subtropical New Orleans, and the Southern Arts & Crafts Revival. I imagine a long run of this magazine would be an invaluable source on the Arts & Crafts movement. All three titles are aimed at both the academic and the collector. _____________________________________________________ Thanks to those who recommended these magazines at the Vancouver Conference.
