                      announces the opening of


                    MIAMI CITY BALLET: AN EXHIBITION
                         April 8-June 13, 1999


             The exhibit contains 52 items, including Edward
             Villella memorabilia (awards, prizes, letters,
             manuscripts, etc.); letters, newspaper clippings, and
             photographs belonging to MCB founder, Toby Lerner Ansin;
             4 full costumes, various costume accessories, and costume
             design drawings; set design drawings, partial sets, and
             one set maquette; photographs (many of George
             Balanchine), books, renderings of the new 11 million
             dollar MCB headquarters designed by the architectural
             firm, Arquitectonica, and other miscellaneous artifacts.

             Edward Villella, Artistic Director, Miami City
             Ballet, spoke at the opening reception on
             April 8th.

             Several related talks will be given during the
             run of the exhibition:

                  Tuesday, April 27, 12:30 p.m.
                  Miami City Ballet Costume Design
                  with costume designers Haydee and
                  Maria Morales.

                  Wednesday, May 5, 12:30 p.m.
                  Miami City Ballet Scenic Design
                  with scenic designer Jorge Gallardo

                  Friday, May 14, 12:30 p.m.
                  Miami City Ballet, Ballet Mistress
                  with principal ballet mistress,
                  Eve Lawson

                  Thursday, June 10, 1999, 12:30 p.m.
                  Miami City Ballet Choreography
                  (Speaker to be announced)

             A complimentary 36 page exhibition catalog
             containing a statement by Edward Villella,
             a brief history of MCB, MCB's active repertoire,
             a selected bibliography, and the exhibition
             checklist, is available upon request.
