There is a book by Scott Kim called Inversions - that is his word, because
he hadn't found any other standard term for it. He said Scot Morris of Omni
magazine had proposed "designatures". I don't think that would fit in all
cases, as Kim is dealing exclusively with calligraphy, where he writes
names, etc. that can be read upside down as well as right side up. In the
back of the book, he has list of images where he tells what he did with the
words: rotation, reflection, etc.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know the term for an image which reads right side up as
well as upside down? In a frontispiece of a book published in France
in 1794 there is a portrait of a nobleman which reads as a beggar
when you flip the book upside down.
We were asked for the correct term to describe this phenomenon as the
book is being used in an exhibition.
We already tried BHA and AAT terms.
THANKS.
