        Wayne A. Wiegand, the distinguished historian of American culture
and libraries, will present two lectures next week in New Jersey, both of
them free and open to the general public.  The first will be:

        The second will be sponsored by the Graduate Program in Book
History at Drew University:

     CONTROVERSIAL BOOKS IN RURAL MIDWEST LIBRARIES, 1893-1956

        There will be a reception following this lecture, sponsored by the
Friends of the Drew University Library.  This event is funded by a grant
from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.

        Wayne A. Wiegand is Professor of Library and Information Studies
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Co-Director of the Center of
the History of Print Culture in Modern America.  He is a prize-winning
author of five books, including "Irrepressible Reformer: A Biography of
Melvil Dewey."
