Join your fellow Webmasters (and Webmaster wannabes) at the Webmasters discussion group scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 12:30-2:00 p.m. In this informal session, we'll open the floor to a wide range of Web issues related to site design and management. Here are some topics that I've gathered over the past months to get you thinking--in fact, there are so many that we may end up having to pull them from a hat!: -- How/where a site fits within a larger institutional Web site -- Webmaster's toolbox (discussion of web development/management software) -- Accessibility (balancing cutting edge features with "universally" accessible features) -- Balancing Web duties with traditional library duties -- Delegation of Web site maintenance among other staff with varying levels of HTML knowledge/skills -- Web publishing models (approaches to gathering, managing, and finally publishing information) -- Beauty on the Web (recent ARLIS-L thread) -- Harnessing feedback from users -- Web interfaces to museum collection databases -- Movement from static HTML pages to dynamically generated HTML from databases (impact on Web searching) -- Collection development policies for Web resources *** Keep in mind that the room we're scheduled to meet in is not wired, so we won't be able to demo any Web sites, etc. during the session. *** ________________________________________ Sam Duncan Associate Librarian/Cataloguer Amon Carter Museum 3501 Camp Bowie Blvd. Fort Worth, TX 76107-2695 (817) 738-1933 ext. 245 (817) 738-4066 fax ________________________________________ All opinions are my own and not those of my employer.
