Hi Heather,
There are many biographical dictionaries in Chinese containing information
on 20th-century chinese painters. Unfortunately, few are in English. (Maybe
there is one now. But, I haven't worked in the Chinese painting field for
more than 6 years. I was an assistant curator of Chinese painting at Hong
Kong Museum of Art.)
The followings are a list of books which are pretty informative on
20th-century Chinese painters. They are either in English or bilingual. I
believe the four artists are Kwang-tung (Cantonese) or Hong Kong painters. I
know that there was a restropective exhibition of Wang Siu-ling painting at
Hong Kong Museum of Art recently. You can check if there is an exhibition
catalog available here in the States. The rest sounds familiar to me. But,
the last 2 artists lacks full Chinese names. Besides, you can try Sotheby's
or Christie's auction catalogs published in Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore or
Shanghai. Usually, they have brief biographies on painters represented in
the auctions. Good luck for your information search. I hope the following
