Kohler Art Library, a member of the General Library System on the
University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, is seeking applications for a
full-time Academic Librarian/Senior Academic Librarian.  Full-time salary
$35,133 minimum.  Benefits include 22 vacation days, sick leave, group
health and life insurance, and a state retirement plan.

The Kohler Art Library is one of the largest public university art
libraries in North America.  Its collection is broadly multicultural with
an emphasis on the art and architecture of American and Europe.  Among its
many resources is a notable special collection of artist s books.

The Kohler Art Library provides research collections and services to
support the information and scholarly needs of faculty, staff and students
from the campus visual arts community, particularly from the departments of
art and art history.  Kohler Art Library also serves as a resource for
other libraries and citizens of the state and nation.

Principal Duties:   The librarian will direct the Kohler Art Library,
addressing the research and curricular needs of patrons; providing
reference and instructional services; managing the library, including two
full-time staff and student assistants; acting as liaison to the art and
art history departments for collection development and services.  The
Kohler Art Library includes print, microform and electronic resources.
There are 127,000 volumes and 700 serial subscriptions in the print
collection.  The annual gate count exceeds 65,000.

This is a position of leadership in UW-Madison libraries and involves
working effectively with faculty, staff, students and other patrons served
by the Kohler Art Library; library donors; other librarians and
administrators.

Degree and Area of Specialization:  An advanced degree in a relevant field
and an MLS or equivalent library experience.

Required:  Broad knowledge of art literature and research and the library s
role in support of teaching and research; experience in an
academic/research art or museum library, including supervision and budget
management; strong communication, organizational and management skills;
demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students and
other patrons; experience with digital products and services, particularly
in the visual arts.  Desired:  A reading knowledge of other languages, a
demonstrated commitment to special collections and experience in fundraising.
