SECAC 1999
Call for Visual Resources Sessions

The Southeastern College Art Conference (SECAC) will hold their 1999
meeting in Norfolk, Virginia, October 27-30. The Art Department of Old
Dominion University will act as host with conference sessions being held
at Norfolk's Waterside Marriott overlooking the downtown waterfront area.
The Marriott's room rate for the conference will be $114 + tax and parking
$10- $12 per day. The conference highlights will include receptions at
the Chrysler Museum of Art and the Portsmouth Museum, tours of the area
and a Saturday night party on the Elizabeth River.
The SECAC annual conference provides visual resources curators the
opportunity to present papers and to participate in roundtable
discussions. "Visual Resources at the Millennium" will be this year's VRC
Paper session theme. Suggested topics for papers could include, but are
not limited to: the Y2K problem, digital imaging projects, the changing
role of the VR professional, managing slides and digital imaging, database
software management as related to web-based images, resource sharing or
other topics. Those wishing to submit a proposal for either a session
paper or a roundtable discussion topic should send an abstract of 100-150
words by March 30 to: Christine Hilker, Co-Chair SECAC VRC, School of
Architecture, 209 Vol Walker Hall, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville,
AR 72701; 501-575-3677/FAX 501-575-7429; e-mail: [log in to unmask]
Tours of area visual collections are also being planned. Full details of
the conference program will be available in early spring and
preregistration material will be available in late August. All
registrants must be members of SECAC, including program participants.
Annual memberships will be available through registration procedures. The
quality and diversity of the VRC sessions depends on your participation.
We look forward to receiving your session proposals and discussion topics
by March 30.
