----------------------------Original message---------------------------- ------------------ ANNOUNCEMENT UPCOMING JOINT MEETING ARLIS CALIFORNIA The joint meeting of ARLIS/Southern California Chapter and ARLIS/Northern California Chapter will take place Thursday - Saturday, January 14 - 16, = 1999. Maia Jin, Treasurer for ARLIS/NC has reserved a block of rooms at the = Holiday Inn Brentwood-Bel Air, 170 N. Church Lane, LA, CA 90049 Tel: 310-476-6411 = Fax: 310-471-3667. The group rate is =2489.00 a night. We can stay at the hotel between Thrs1/14 and Saturday 1/16, with check out on Sunday 1/17. The name= of the group is =22Art Library Society=22 and Maia Jin is the contact if you = have any problems making your reservation. There is no limit or minimum to the number= of rooms we can book and the rate is good through 12/31/98. Many of the out-of-town ARLIS members are planning to take a room at the hotel. = Shuttle service to the Getty Center is provided free to guests of the hotel. For = local members, our coordinator at the Getty has graciously reserved a block of parking spaces for those of us who plan on driving to the Getty Center. The meeting will include a reception at 6pm on Jan. 14, hosted by The Getty Research Institute, followed by a full day at The Getty Center on Jan. 15, = which will include tours of the museum, research institute and architectural tours of the site. A boxed lunch is planned on the 15th, followed by a panel discussion, business meeting and optional group dinner = in a a local restaurant. On Saturday, Jan. 16 the group will meet at The = Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. Tours of the library and the= art collections are planned, and members will have time to visit the art exhibit =22Antiquity Revisited: English and French Silver-Gilt from the Collection = of Audrey Love=22, which closes on January 31, 1999 and the library's ambitious travelling exhibit, =22 The Great Experiment : George Washington and the American Republic=22.
