----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Dear Ursula: Here at the Detroit Institute of Arts Research Library we have been a part of a multi-library type consortium since 1994. The consortium is DALNET (Detroit Area Library Network) and is one of the largest of its kind in the country and includes public, academic, school, and professional libraries. Automation of the collection was one of the most visible aspects of joining the consortium (though we have only about 40% accessible online even now). We (the entire consortium) are in the beginning stages of migrating to a new system (Horizon) right now, so the Research Library is readdressing many of the decisions that were made when we initially automated with NOTIS. Did you have any specific questions about the implications or logistics of joining with other libraries in a consortium? Sincerely, Kraig Binkowski Librarian The Detroit Institute of Arts 5200 Woodward, Detroit MI 48202 (313) 833-7926 [log in to unmask] http://www.dia.org At 04:46 PM 12/7/98 EST, you wrote: >----------------------------Original message---------------------------- >Dear museum colleagues, >I would like to know if any art museum library automated their collection by >joining the local public library in a consortium.
