----------------------------Original message---------------------------- From Liv Valmestad, RISS Moderator. The following message is primarily for RISS members and others who may be interested. WARNING: Do not bother reading ALL of this unless you are really interested in RISS. There is a lot to read , so here's you chance to hit the delete button. It is just under six months before we meet in Vancouver for our annual session. As RISS moderator, I thought it might be a good idea to get the contigent thinking about "strategic plan items." I don't need answers or suggestions right away, but I think it would be effective if people could come with thoughts and ideas to the meeting, so that we could make further progress. Perhaps we should just work on completing one item for the meeting??? #38. Create and/or identify existing programs, publications, inventories, databases, websites, highlighting the expanding knowledge base which informs research and study in the arts, architecture, and design; create a "related disciplines" page on Web site. PENDING ***I am actually putting the finishing touches on a RISS webpage, however it does not contain the above mentioned items. I would appreciate if those members that are specialists in other disciplined/fields could send me the relevant information and then I could create some headings to address this. #39. Identify instructional programs which emphasize the expanding interdisciplinary nature of knowledge and information sources in the arts and related subject disciplines. ***This ties into #38**** #47 Create desiderata file of reference tools, research aids. ***Pending*** Do we have anything like this in existence now??? Should we try to compile one on the new webpage???? #52 Create and update on Web Site, an annotated listing of electronic indexing/abstracting tools for art, architecture and design serial publications and in fields related to the arts. **Progress*** There are already links to such sites on ARLIS/NA Site. #72 Define and report on issues related to "Coll. Dev. and the WWW" Pending . I think this is probably being addressed by the ARLIS/NA webpage. Thanks for your time and hopefully your future thought and fabulous ideas!!!!
