----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Collections Librarian (Search Reopened) Harvard University Graduate School of Design Frances Loeb Library The Frances Loeb Library of Harvard University s Graduate School of Design, with a collection of 265,000 volumes in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning and design, invites applications for the position of Collections Librarian. Coordinates collection development activities and selection activities of other librarians. With library staff, performs collection analysis, develops and monitors collection development policy. Works with staff to design, implement and monitor approval plans. Processes gift offers. Maintains strong working relationship with faculty and students. As a reference team member works 10-12 hours per week providing reference service; assists the Head of Public Services in bibliographic instruction programs. Contributes to the team effort to develop new services and programs. Requirements: ALA-accredited library degree (MLS) or its equivalent; background in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design or a closely related field (academic degree desirable); minimum of 2-4 years experience in a comparable library setting; demonstrated ability in reference and collection management with reading knowledge of at least two foreign languages; excellent written and oral communication ability; competence in an electronic environment; experience working collegially in a team environment; flexibility and versatility required to effectively contribute to an evolving work situation. Salary range: Grade 56: $34,300-56,100, depending on experience; Grade 57: $39,600-64,400, depending on experience. The position is available immediately.
