----------------------------Original message---------------------------- I think it is important to factor in the cost of handling the materials. If you are shooting slides onto film, you have to handle the copywork, the book or periodical from which you are shooting, log it in to some system. If you are sending slides out for scanning, you have to factor in getting the slides in order for scanning, color correcting, rotating, offloading into your system, conversion of the digital files into viewable file formats, transfer onto your server, etc. You can always estimate $1.00 per slide for the scan itself. The real costs come in handling the digital scans.
