Apologies for reposting this announcement - but
difficulties in reading currency symbols have resulted
in several misunderstandings regarding a seemingly
inflated price. I have rephrased the announcement
using words rather than symbols.
Announcing a newly published |CD-ROM:
COURTAULD GALLERY - AN ILLUSTRATED CATALOGUE:
The Courtauld Gallery gains its special character from two
aspects of its history, firstly thatit supports the
teaching programmes of the Courtauld Institute and the
University of London, and secondly, that it is made up of a
series of private collections, each of considerable
significance in the history of collecting. This CD-ROM
contains catalogue entries for the entire collection of
works in oil in the Courtauld Gallery, over 500 items
illustrated by 570 images, including details of component
parts, recto and verso. As a result, a completely
illustrated catalogue of the gallery's collection has been
compiled for the first time including the provision of
newly formalised inventory numbers. The structure of the
Witt Computer Index, the database format that underlies the
catalogue descriptions, allows the user of the CD-ROM to
pose his own questions about the collection, whether by
provenance, date, subject matter (via both keyword and
ICONCLASS), previous attribution, exhibition history or
artist. Both simple and advanced search routines are
available and the images can be viewed in varying
sequences.
