A library patron is seeking information on an artist named Wilhelm Wachtel. Presumably he is a German working in Germany but not sure. The patron thought he was active ca. 1890 and after. Among other things, he created an etching dated 1914 called the "funeral"(which appears on the virtualjerusalem web site at (http://virtualjerusalem.com) He is thought to have done other genre scenes related to Jewish life in eastern europe. I have checked the standard sources, Dict of art, etc. to no avail. ULAN does not include him. Not represented in standard catalogs. Does anyone have leads on a biography or other artistic creation in addition to the funeral of 1914? Thanks in advance for your help.
