The painting is "The Spirit of '76," by Ohio
artist Archibald M. Willard (1836-1918). It was done
ca.1875-1876, for display at the Centennial Exhibition in
Philadelphia. Due to the great success of the piece,
Willard painted several replicas of it; *the* original is
housed in Abbott Hall, in Marblehead, Mass.
