----------------------------Original message---------------------------- At the Computer Section meeting at this year's conference, I indicated that there might be a growing community of webmasters who would benefit from getting together at next year's conference in Vancouver. I'm picturing this as an informal, constructive meeting for sharing ideas and discussing a wide range of web issues including: -- How/where a site fits within a larger institutional website -- Webmaster's toolbox (discussion of web development/management software) -- Accessibility (balancing cutting edge features with "universally" accessible features) -- Balancing web duties with traditional library duties -- Delegation of web site maintenance among other staff with varying levels of HTML knowledge/web skills -- Web publishing models (approaches to gathering, managing, and finally publishing information) -- Harnessing feedback from users -- Web interfaces to museum collection databases -- Collection development policies for web resources Before I request a block of time in next year's program, I would like a general show of interest in such a meeting. If you have an interest, please let me know at [log in to unmask] Also, let me know what your involvement in the web is, i.e. are you currently managing a web project or site? Please provide relevant URLs. I also want to remind folks that the ARLIS/NA Webmaster position is still open. If you would like more information about the position, contact Mary Graham, ARLIS/NA President ([log in to unmask]).
