Associate Librarian/Cataloguer

The Whitney Museum of American Art invites applications for the position of
Associate Librarian/Cataloguer.  This position reports to
Librarian/Associate Curator for Special Collections.

Responsibilities:

Performs original and copy cataloging in various formats, using  AACR2, LCSH
and LC classification. Supervises library staff in book processing, ordering
and binding. Oversees the day to day operation of the Library. Acts as
Department Head in the absence of the Librarian. Advises research based on
familiarity with collection.  Provides on-line/internet assistance to
library users. Coordinates all aspects involving the launching of an
integrated library system. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

ALA accredited MLS; at least two years' cataloging experience in RLIN. Art
History degree or two years' working experience in a fine art library.
Working knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, and MARC format. Experience with library
automation and online/internet searches. Supervisory experience preferred.
