Assistant Librarian
(Librarian A, Grade 9, Position #00030)

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is seeking an Assistant Librarian.  The
position assists the Fine Arts Librarian in the maintenance, housing, and
development of the Museum's library resources which consist of 70,000
volumes, bound periodicals, and auction catalogues.  This position also
assists in the maintenance of the on-line library catalogue and in providing
service to the library's patrons and museum staff.  Additional duties
include assisting in OCLC activities, supervision of volunteers, and service
as deputy head of the library at a secondary management level.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Masters in Library Science with considerable coursework in art history
materials and museum studies.  The successful candidate will have
demonstrable and extensive skill in the use of computers and a variety of
software [word processing, spreadsheets, & databases] and in on-line
systems.  Other demonstrable abilities include: strong problem-solving
skills; management of overlapping, complicated projects; ability to work
well with the public, other professionals and departments.  An equivalent
combination of training and experience indicating possession of the
preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for the education
qualification.

Hiring Salary Range: $24,337 to $29,378, plus an excellent state benefits
package.
