When Edme Bouchardon's manual l'Antatomie necessaire pour l'usage du
dessein (Paris, 1741: chez Huquier) was published, Huquier distributed
the volume along with an ecorche ronde bosse figure, to be used in
conjunction with the illustrations of the volume. Was the ecorche the
one sculpted by one of the Bouchardons working on the volume? Did he
replace the original ecorche with a miniature copy of the now famous
ecorche au bra tendu (1762) of Jean-Antoine Houdon? Or did Huquier add
the ecorche figure to accompany the volume only after 1762?
