Diane,
I have not found any bio on Malcolm Alexander but have
located references to other work by the artist, if that is
of any interest.

The SIRIS Inventory of American Art (http://www.siris.si.edu/
to replicate my search) notes two works: a portrait sculpture
of Jimmy Stewart at the Indiana County, Pa. courthouse from 1983
and "We Didn't Know It Couldn't Be Done" for the Trans-Alaska
Pipeline. Curiously, the location for that work is given as
Valdez, not Fairbanks! Specifically, it's listed at the
6 mile mark, Dayview Road, Valdez. Bibliography cited is
Stan Cohen's "The Great Alaska Pipeline" (1988).

Elsewhere, there are references to reproductions of "Ol' Man
River" in the Summer 1978 National Sculpture Review and "Sod Busting"
in the Summer 1979 National Sculpture Review.

To add to the negatives on sources checked for bio, this artist
is not listed in: RILA, ARTbibliographies Modern, Contemporary
Artists, the Index to Artistic Biography, nor my major paper
biographical dictionaries.
