The problem with the unreadable price of the Dictionary of Art reinforces my awareness of a problem I have experienced often in the past with ARLIS email posts. Dollar figure quotes come out garbled in some of the messages I receive also. (For example, the room rates for conference hotels were unreadable. And a request for clarification resulted in a repeated message of the same string of garbage characters.) Do many of you have this problem? It seems to me to happen more often when messages come from ARLIS (i.e. all my Sloan Ponder messages are a problem) than when messages come from individual posters. I assume the ASCII character for the $ makes things go awry, but I have no solution. Does anyone have any suggestions/comments?
