----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Hello -- The Visual Resources Association welcomes ARLIS members to
participate in our Sunday tour of the Barnes Foundation collection. At
the end of this message are the specific details about the tour; please
note that the time for the tour has changed. Our tour was originally
scheduled for the morning but had to be changed to the afternoon due to
new restrictions on the Barnes' hours.

ARLIS members do _not_ need to be registered for the VRA conference in
order to register for this tour. There are two options for registering.
One is to try signing up for the tour at the VRA conference registration
desk in the Warwick Hotel. However, the last day for sign-up probably
will be Wednesday, March 4th, which will be before many ARLIS people
arrive in Philadelphia.

The second option is to use the VRA registration form available on the web
(http://www.oberlin.edu/~art/vra/regform.html). Please follow these
instructions:
Print out the registration form (you only need the first page)
Fill in the top part of the form with all your information
Write ARLIS/NA REGISTRANT next to the conference fees section
Fill in the Barnes Tour section and the Grand Total
Mail the form with your check (made out to Visual Resources Assoc.) to:

Tour
Barnes Foundation
Sponsor: VRA
Registration fee: $20.00
Limit: 50 participants

Includes: transportation via school bus

Even if you were able to see the Barnes collection when it toured the
country a few years ago, this is an excellent opportunity to see it as Dr.
Albert C. Barnes meant it to be seen. Established in 1922, the Barnes
Foundation's collection includes strong holdings of Renoir, Cezanne, and
Matisse, as well as many other examples of Post-Impressionist and early
French modern painting, watercolors by Charles Demuth, decorative arts,
and African sculptures. This will be a great way to wrap up the
conference. The bus will pick us up at and return us to the Warwick
Hotel.
