Curator of the Slide Library, Sarah Lawrence College

The Curator is responsible for the management and developments of an
intensively used collection of over 150,000 slide images, the supervision of
1 1/2 FTE and a number of student workers. Immediate priorities include
collection development, database construction,cataloging, and the
investigation of the use of digital images. The Curator reports to the
College Librarian.

The incumbent will be expected to develop and implement a user-searchable
database that will be accessible from the campus network for a rapidly
growing slide collection. The Curator is expected to work with the Librarian
and members of the faulty in preparing budgets and identifying appropriate
funding sources for implementing new digital technologies.

Candidates are required to have a Masters in Art History. Previous
experience in a visual resources collection highly desirable. Candidates are
expected to be conversant with new technologies relating to the archiving,
management, and presentation of visual materials as well as having strong
interpersonal skills necessary to interact with faculty, students and
administrators.

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Anticipated starting
date:summer 1998.
