The staff is involved in traditional and electronic activities of an Art Library. This position is responsible for communicating the needs of the library, faculty and students as they relate to the fulfillmet of the mission of the organization. The Herron Art Library Team Leader will play a key role in development of instructional teams with the Herron School of Art faculty. Participation in planning the proposed new Herron School of Art Library will be a major responsibility of this position as well. Coordination with University Library and its operational teams must be a hallmark of this successful administrator. Service on appropriate University, School of Art and Library committees is to be expected. ENVIRONMENT: The library currently occupies space in a facility commissioned by the Art Association and designed and built by Vonnegut and Bohne in 1906 as part of the John Herron Art Institute. In 1967 the School and itsm library became a part of Indiana University. New facilities for the School and its library are currently being planned. Recent renovations have made it possible for the library to serve faculty and students of the School in a satisfactory fashion until the new library is built. The Herron Library shares access to the University Library Information System. That system with Ameritechms Horizon automated catalog is fully integrated with other electronic information systems, productivity tools, and graphic packages and provides access to the World Wide Web, and a rich array of academic CD-ROM resources. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Accredited MLS together with a record of three years appropriate administrative budgetary, and supervisory experience, preferably in an academic, research or art library. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to interact successfully with colleagues, administrators, staff, patrons, and faculty. Ability to meet the responsibilities of a tenure-track appointment. Preferred: Degree in Fine Arts or other advanced degree in related area and/or experience in an art library; experience and/or knowledge of facility planning/building programs, and experience with library automation.
