----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Dear ARLIS-Lers,

I am co-moderating a session in Philadelphia about grant funding for
libraries and museums. The panel includes representatives from the NEH,
IMLS (Institute for Museum and Library Services) and from the Stockton Rush
Bartol Foundation, a private granting agency (As well as our own Deirdre
Lawrence).

I would like to make this panel as useful as possible to those who attend
_and_ to those who will speak. They need to hear from us, and those who
attend the session will have the opportunity of asking the panel questions
on the spot. Yet, if you cannot attend the session, or the conference, we
would like to address your concerns as well.

The IMLS is new to funding libraries and would be especially interested in
what we have to say.

Do you have any particular questions for this panel?

Do you have projects that are unfunded in your library?

Have you sought funding, but were denied? Would you like to know why?

Are there areas that really need funding, but are not in the scope of these
agencies? Should they fund in areas that are not covered elsewhere?

What areas in your library need funding? Preservation? Technology?
Acquitistions? Creating endowments? Personnel?

Are you seeking knowledge of the mechanics of obtaining funding, or how to
work with an agency?

I would appreciate your input. You may reply directly to me at

Sincerely,
