FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE FRICK ART REFERENCE LIBRARY

Position:               Assistant Reference Librarian
Description:    Reporting to the Head of Reference Dept., provide
reference and instructional services to the Library's users.  Assist
readers with on-site, telephone and e-mail reference queries using both
print and electronic media.  Introduce new readers to the Library's book
and photograph collections and policies.  Responsible for the Library's
extensive microform CD-Rom collections and other electronic resources.
Provide instruction to readers and staff in use of CD-Rom, online, and
Internet resources.  Verify and process interlibrary lending requests.
Prepare finding aids, collection guides, and bibliographies (e.g. using
Procite) related to reference and access services.  Compile statistical
reports on users.  Participate in the development of reference
information for the Library website.
Qualifications: Recent MLS from an ALA-accredited program.  Previous
reference library experience or emphasis on reference courses in degree
program.  Strong computer skills essential=3B knowledge of electronic
information retrieval, Internet and other networked resources.  Academic
background in history of Western art.  Reading knowledge of one or more
Western European languages.  Excellent oral and written communication
skills=3B strong public service orientation.  Ability to initiate, plan,
and implement projects, both independently and as a member of a team.
Hours:                  9-4:45, Monday-Friday=3B 9:30-12:45, Saturday=3B at
least one Saturday/month September - May.
