----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The Museum of Modern Art Library seeks applicants for the position of Associate Librarian. This position manages and coordinates the Library's reference services to the Museum staff and the public; develops reference policies and provides reference services; develops and maintains the reference collection in both printed and electronic formats; develops and implements orientation and training programs for the staff and interns; and sets policies regarding and supervises paging, circulation, and interlibrary loan of library material. The Associate Librarian works with the Chief Librarians and Assistant Librarians in order to carry out reference duties. This position supervises four library assistants and oversees the volunteer program. This position reports to the Chief Librarians. Qualifications: Education: Graduate degree in Library Science required; graduate degree in art history or fine arts preferred. Experience: Five years of appropriate professional experience. Skills: Candidates must be able to work effectively with museum curators and staff, visiting scholars, students, and the general public and possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; knowledge of contemporary and modern art; reading knowledge of two foreign languages; knowledge of automated library systems and electronic resources.
